To prevent COVID-19 from spreading, a ferry operator in Langkawi has increased its cleaning function to prevent COVID-19 from spreading has increased its cleaning function.

Captain Baharin Baharin, Ferry Line Projects Sdn Bhd Manager  said that action was taken to raise public confidence.

"We usually clean every six months but we will clean our ferries more regularly now after the COVID-19 outbreak.

He said at today's press conference that "there are 35 ferries involved on the Langkawi route, including Satun and Koh Lipe, Thailand, in addition to Payar island (Penang), Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis."

Also present was Langkawi Marine Department director Ghazali Ahmad.

There are reports of a drop in visitors to Langkawi due to the scare of the virus affecting the tourism and retail sectors of the island.
