IPOH:

The Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) has submitted plans for the Movie Animation Park Studio (MAPS) to Perak Corporation Berhad (PCB) whether to reopen or otherwise.

Its chief executive officer Mohd Ariff Yeop Ishak said PKNP as the major shareholder of PCB is awaiting a new business strategy plan related to MAPS this month.

He said MAPS was one of the focus areas in the state and PCB planning should also be considered by the CPNP.

"Maybe we will reopen (MAPS) but I do not know the plans of the PCB. Perhaps we will find out the results later this month and then they will submit the plan to PKNP as majority shareholder.

"If the plan is good, we may agree. So we will have to wait and see before making a decision," he told reporters after meeting at the Silver Technology Park Development Summit and Development Summit with Residents of Taman Chepor Sentosa here today.

Meanwhile, in the statement of Exco Investment, Industry and Regional Development, Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin that some outsiders were interested in taking over MAPS, Mohd Ariff said the matter had not been confirmed.

He said the CPNP had not received any requests for MAPS.

Earlier, Mohammad Nizar explained that two investors including a company from China were identified as interested in taking over MAPS.

On January 28, The Receiver and Manager Animation Theme Park Sdn Bhd (ATP) of Messrs Ernst & Young announced that the MAPS was closed with a notice issued.

According to the notice, no deadline for closing the theme park has been announced.
