Motac extends relaxation of regulatory requirements for tourism operators

MALAYSIA:

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) has agreed to offer regulatory relief to tourism operators licensed under the Tourism Industry Act of 1992. (Act 482).

According to a statement released by Motac, the extension would include relaxations in the size of licensed tourism operators' premises as well as authorization to operate additional enterprises on their grounds from July 1 to December 31.

Previously, the relaxation of regulatory restrictions for tourism providers was given from January 1 to June 30.

Motac stated that the relaxation on renting commercial premises as co-share office space will be granted till December 31.

The adjustment is projected to help 6,945 licensed tourism operators that operate travel agency firms, according to the statement.

“The government expects that this relaxation would assist in relieving the strain and issues that licensed tourism operators are experiencing as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic,” it stated.
