INDIA:

In collaboration with Airbnb, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) promotes B&B tourism in Maharashtra.

This partnership will promote the travel of homestay tourism to lesser-known destinations and allow inclusive community-led tourism in the state to enhance economic prospects.

The collaboration encourages both sides to promote a healthy tourism environment while emphasising current and potential tourism destinations in the state.

The relationship also strengthens tourism's ability to build employment and maintain livelihoods for local communities through information sharing and training workshops with hosts and will highlight unique properties as more travellers explore the stays near metro towns.

Maharashtra is an ecologically and culturally rich state and offers travellers unique travel experiences. We are committed to improving community-driven hospitality that is sustainable and offers travellers accessible, affordable, and quality tourism, said Aaditya Thackeray, minister for tourism, environment.

Safety is also key. With Airbnb, we will strengthen the ecosystem for the growth of homestays and B&Bs in the state, to revive tourism growth in the coming months," he added.

Meanwhile, Amanpreet Bajaj, general manager of India, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan at Airbnb, said this partnership is a valuable opportunity to drive rapid demand growth towards domestic tourism and to support economic recovery.

"Airbnb has always been committed to highlighting unique destinations that are off the beaten track, and to ensure that economic benefits of tourism reach as many communities as possible," he said.

In accordance with Airbnb's own data and search patterns, Maharashtra resorts like Karjat, Igatpuri, Alibag, and Panchgani are often searched for choices, including in the west of Ghats, and offer real cultural experiences to tourists.
