PASIR SALAK :

Perak will have the country's biggest petting zoo.

It is going to be built at the Perak Agrotourism Resort (PATRO), where it is expected to finish by next February.

The Zoo, comprising three elements of fauna, flora, and nature, is the latest addition of Perak's tourism destinations, PATRO's Managing Director Mohd Radzuan Abdul Karim said.

He said construction will begin next month on four hectares of land in Sungai Galah at a cost of about RM5 million.

“The idea of building the largest petting zoo was mooted by the Menteri Besar (Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu) when I was presenting a proposal to rebrand PATRO which was closed due to the Movement Control Order implemented to check the spread of COVID-19.

“The petting zoo will increase domestic tourists arrival in Perak and allow PATRO to have its place on the country’s tourism map,” he told reporters here, a place of historic significance.

Nolee Ashilin said during a press conference that PATRO would offer a discount of up to 50% until December.

It also provides opportunities for various activities in the area of all-terrain vehicles, kayaks, jet skis, bicycles, and paddleboats, as well as for equestrian sports, apart from accommodation.

“The reopening of PATRO will make the tourism industry in Perak complete. It is also a promotion to revive tourism activities in the state,” she said.
