KOTA KINABALU :

The state of Sabah has immediately placed travel restrictions on the border between Malaysia and Indonesia.

Sabah Secretary of State Safar Untong said the restrictions included Pulau Sebatik-Simanggaris-Serudong and Bantul Labang-Pagalungan-Bantul Labang, as well as travel restrictions from Pulau Sebatik-Tawau-Pulau Sebatik.

However, it does not refer to those who transport goods of a minimum quantity of boats and crews use jetty permits to operate, he added.

Safar said also that those returning from outside Sabah during the implementation of the motion control order would receive a 14-day quarantine in state quarantine centers.

He said the state government had designated three new sites in Lahad Date to avoid congestion in existing quarantine centers, namely in Kota-Belud Masjid Jamek as well as in Plasma MPOB and Felda Residen Sahabat, as temporary quarantine centers of the Covid-19.

Safar said that Sabah had limited domestic flights.

The state government also directed service providers to clean devices such as ATMs, lift-buttons and petrol pumps continuously, with effect from today.
