MALAYSIA:

As the latest study by the hotel connectivity specialist eRevMax, Saudi Arabia is showing the fastest recovery in the Middle East with reservation.

Since the beginning of the pandemic and since April & May, the company has monitored the trend of its connected property in the country and has since evolved into a V-shaped recovery.

This study, which is based on data processed by eRevMax for its customer hotels worldwide and which keeps January 2020 as a consistent and calculates the percent change over the following months.

Saudi Arabia has the second-highest number of Covid-19 cases in the region. However, with the patient recovery rate higher than the global average, the Kingdom has been easing restrictions since June. As per Government reports, domestic tourism, which went into a freefall in April-May, went ahead by 18% in June, compared to last year, with hotel occupancy bouncing back to between 85% to 90%.

The advance rates for eRevMax partner hotels in Saudi Arabia in August were above the pre-COVID average of 110%.

“Saudi Tourism Authority has been focusing on travel and hospitality as a vital sector and working on various initiatives to promote domestic tourism. The country is already starting to welcome a limited number of pilgrims following months of tight restrictions. This is a strong example of effective government policies and seamless execution leading to robust travel recovery and a boost in the economy,” said Udai Singh Solanki, co-chief executive officer (CEO) and chief technical officer (CTO) of eRevMax.

eRevMax continues to provide thousands of hotels worldwide with integrated networking and business intelligence solutions. Booking data in various geographies are continuously tracked. The business continues to publish country reports for key markets to highlight related hotel reservation patterns and travel expectations and to rehabilitate its distribution strategies.
