SEOUL:

On Wednesday in Daegu's Daegu street, about 300 km southeast of Seoul, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Tourist Organization announced the launch of its first shopping and tourist service.

The most popular shopping area of Daegu's Dongseongno Street can be accessed via smartphone to obtain information about restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions nearby.

The platform also offers VR content that allows users to virtually look inside a store.

Visitors can take advantage of augmented reality (AR) stand in a local tourist information centre to virtually try on clothes and accessories.

In the province of Daegu and South Jeolla, the government intends to expand intelligent shopping and tourism.
