Thailand Travelution 2022 event to help drive Thai tourism industry’s digital transformation

The "Thailand Travelution 2022" event, which will highlight the value of utilizing technology and the insight of Big Data to help drive the digital transformation of the Thai tourism industry, will be held on November 18–19, 2022, at the CentralWorld complex in Bangkok, according to a press release from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with the Phuket Tourist Association and the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA).

H.E. was present at the Thailand Travelution 2022 press conference on September 7, 2022. Mr. Nithee Seeprae, TAT Deputy Governor for Digitalization, Research and Development; Mr. Chaiwut Thanakmanusorn, Minister of Digital Economy and Society; Mr. Khampol Ouitayakul, Secretary of the Minister of Tourism and Sports; and Mr. Poomkit Raktae Ngam, Strategic Advisor for the Phuket Tourism Business Association.

"The Thailand Travelution 2022 event aims to move the Thai tourism industry ever closer towards full digital transformation by recognizing the importance of using strategic insights and applying tourism technology to drive the kingdom's tourism business to greater heights," said Mr. Nithee Seeprae, TAT Deputy Governor for Digitalization, Research, and Development. The event will bring together current travel trends, promote the development of commercial tourism technology fields, and simultaneously work to inspire and promote entrepreneurs and start-ups in the travel industry.

The "Tourism Data Intelligence Sandbox" will be used as the source of data for Part 1 of the hackathon, which will include competitive activities to find the best ideas for developing tourism innovations. By creating new services, participants will be better able to compete on a global scale.

In Part 2 - Tech Talk, invited specialists from the tourist sector and Unicorn Tech Start-ups from across Thailand, who specialize in industries including hotels, insurance, and payments, will present their thoughts and visions.

Part 3 - Travel Tech Exhibition will include over 100 innovations in travel technology, hardware, the metaverse, AI, and Big Data from entrepreneurs and offer business matching opportunities between innovators and travel operators.

Phuket's significance as a test site for the Tourism Data Intelligence Sandbox, which will produce tourism data intelligence that relevant agencies and businesspeople of all sizes may use to develop marketing strategies, will also be emphasized by Thailand Travelution 2022.

Additionally, a contract for the creation of the Tourism Data Intelligence Sandbox has been signed between the Government Big Data Institute and the Thai Meteorological Department.
