MALAYSIA:

Tourism Malaysia uses bloggers and influencers (influential social media users) to share experiences while making visits to homestays across the country in addition to using them to promote the country's culture and ethnicity.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik explained that it provided an opportunity for writers, journalists and international social media representatives to learn a little about local culture including ethnic culture in Sabah and Sarawak.

To further promote the promotion of multicultural and ethnic cultures at the international level, TM has also invited writers, journalists and international social media representatives to participate in an intimate visit to the homestay.

"Writers, journalists and bloggers will have their own unique experiences living with the local community and learning a little about the local culture including Sabah and Sarawak ethnic culture," he said.

Muhammad Bakhtiar answered questions Dr Hasan Baharom (PH-Tampin) requesting clarification whether the Ministry's efforts in promoting the culture of the Malays, Sabah and Sarawak as the main focus at the international level and also to prevent foreign cultural hegemony in the country.

At the same time, the ministry through the Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN) also promoted multiculturalism through the implementation of the Living Arts Culture Festival.

It aims to elevate and uphold the uniqueness of the cultural arts in promoting the underrepresented and almost extinct cultural arts to become a catalyst for conservation and preservation efforts.

Among the Ministry's efforts to prevent foreign hegemony is through the drafting of the National Cultural Policy.

"This policy has been formulated extensively with emphasis on the preservation, preservation and protection of the nation's heritage, and the strengthening of the people's identity," he added.

He added that close cooperation with travel agencies and foreign media would continue to promote international cultural tourism as an incentive to encourage them to choose Malaysia as a holiday destination in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign.
