Malaysia recently saw a different segment of run in the streets, as the marvel superheroes took to the Putrajaya’s streets.  Tourism Malaysia Director General YBhg. Datuk Musa Yusof today officially flagged the 15,000 runners for MARVEL RUN Malaysia 2019 event, in conjunction with Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020 campaign (VM2020).  Out of the lot were Captain America, Black Panther, Thor and Captain Marvel who were among 15,000 people who took to the streets of the federal administrative centre for the first Marvel Run in Malaysia.

The event is said to be the first between Tourism Malaysia and the Marvel comics brand in line with the Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020 campaign. It's evident that Malaysia has become a lot more active with tourism to promote the place. Adding to the excitement of the event were MARVEL fans who came decked in their finest MARVEL outfits standing themselves out of the crowd.

Participants in the run competed in four categories: 800 metres and 1.2-kilometre dash for children; 5km run (non-competitive) and the 10km run, which was flagged off by Tourism Malaysia director-general Musa Yusof. The event attracted runners from all ages from Malaysia, as well as international participants including from Australia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ecuador and Singapore.

“Tourism Malaysia is delighted to work with MARVEL Run 2019, which highlights Malaysia as a sports tourism destination, as well as the preferred entertainment hub,” said Datuk Musa.

He added the organisers, including Disney Digital Network, would disseminate publicity material for the Visit Malaysia year, which has a target of attracting 30 million international tourists and RM100 billion in tourism receipts.
