"At the UN, I will speak about the transformation of Indonesian tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic," Sandiaga said at the office of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.

He explained that Indonesian tourism post-COVID-19 pandemic will focus more on the quality of visits with longer tourist stays. Additionally, Indonesian tourism will also focus on shopping tours that have more impact on the local economy which was heavily impacted by the pandemic.

Referring to the un.org website, the UN General Assembly 'Sustainability Week' will take place on April 15-19, 2024, at the UN headquarters in New York, United States. The high-level meeting on tourism is slated for April 16.

In an interview with reporters on Monday, April 8, 2024, Sandiaga mentioned that this might be his last months as a Tourism Minister. He recalled that together with his team at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, he had experienced extraordinary challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic as 45 million Indonesians depended on the creative economy sector.

He only reminded that the citizens of Indonesia must encourage the elected president and all relevant parties to contribute their best for Indonesia.
