INDONESIA:

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno estimated that domestic tourist mobility during the Christmas and New Year holidays will reach 200 million.

Sandiaga explained that the tourism outlook during the Christmas and New Year holidays is 100 million times two. Meanwhile, the 100 million figure is estimated through the calculation of the Transportation Ministry.

"Usually, after arriving at their destinations, the tourists will keep on moving," Sandiaga said during a virtual session of the Weekly Brief With Sandi Uno on Monday, November 27, 2023. "Thus, the mobility estimation of the domestic tourists is around 200 million."

Additionally, the minister also mentioned that the arrival of foreign tourists will reach its peak during the Christmas and New Year holidays period this year.

"We hope foreign tourists arrival surpasses 11 million," he said.

Meanwhile, the Transportation Ministry predicted that peak Christmas homecoming flow this year would happen on December 22-23, 2023, with a reverse flow peak on Dec. 26-27, 2023.

On the other hand, the peak New Year homecoming flow would happen on Dec. 29-30, 2023, while the reverse flow expected to happen on January 1-2, 2024.
The ministry also predicted around 107.63 million people will travel this year during the upcoming holidays, a 143.65 percent increase compared to last year with 44.17 million people.
