KUALA LUMPUR:

On October 6, 2020, Halal Development Corporation (HDC) is hosting a hybrid virtual and physical events due to Covid-19, which will mark the 12th Halal World Conference 2020.

HDC Chief Executive Officer Hairol Ariffein Sahari said the conference, to be held online and offline at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center (MITEC), is expected to be launched by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin with opening remarks by Senior Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Minister of International Trade and Industry.

“WHC2020 will be a hybrid virtual conference. Travel restrictions globally have made coming to the venue impossible; thus, a virtual platform will allow us to proceed with the conference to include our global partners, delegates and participants to ‘come’.  And there will be real-time questions online during the sessions," he said in a statement.

Hairol Ariffein said the conference will feature elements such as an ambassador to motivate the community to drive the recovery period economics, an industry panel captains on responsible consumption and development, and driving growth in the halal economy through Islamic finance with the topics that focus on the post-Covid-19 scenario.

WHC2020 is well placed to explore further and consider how to resolve the effects of the pandemic and to accelerate the transformation into the Modern World Economy by means of digitalisation.

The World Halal Conference is recognised as an international networking forum for national leaders, academics, business people and industry leaders to discuss the possibilities and challenges of Halal's economy in order to guide the Halal market.

HDC is positive about the WHC2020 participation and expects about 300 invited MITEC delegates and about 1.500 virtual delegates in line with the government's Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

HDC’s Secretariat can be contacted at 1-800-880-555 / 03 7965 5444 or email to whc@hdcglobal.com for more information on WHC2020.
