ALOR SETAR -:

Kedah is taking steps to promote the state's tourism in the air with a partnership with Firefly.

Kedah Tourism and Culture Exco, Asmirul Anuar Aris said the collaboration enabled the Visit Malaysia (VM)2020 logo to be displayed on Firefly aircraft including information on Kedah tourism products in the storage as well as an on-board dining area.

According to him, this includes a more vibrant and colorful interior and various images of food, culture, beaches, ecotourism, art and beautiful scenery.

"All these visuals are expected to spark the VM2020 campaign for the domestic and ASEAN markets, as well as attract the younger generation to appreciate domestic tourism products," he told.

Earlier Asmirul Anuar represented Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir inaugurating the launch of the VM2020 campaign logo and the tour package 'The Best of Langkawi Discovery', between the state governments of Kedah, Tourism Malaysia and Firefly in Subang Skypark.

Also present were Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) Secretary-General Datuk Dr Noor Zari Hamat, Tourism Malaysia Director-General Datuk Musa Yusof, and Firefly Chief Executive Officer Philip See.

Asmirul Anuar said in addition to displaying logos and images, Firefly also offers a 30 percent discount for tourists to enjoy a range of attractive travel packages.

"Packages to Langkawi's top destinations will be the backdrop for the Firefly deals with bookings starting from February 17 to March 13 for travel time until June 30, 2020," he said.

According to him, 70 hotels in Langkawi made the package available, including offering free accommodation vouchers for island-hopping activities and tickets to Crocodile Adventureland.

"The package of 'The Best of Langkawi Discovery' aims at doubling the tourist satisfaction through the 'See It, Hear It, Sense It, Feel It, Touch It, Taste It' aspirations and is expected to boost domestic tourism to offset the decline in international tourist arrivals," he said.
