Perlis target over 100,000 visitors for the east wind festival

The state government aims to attract more than 100,000 visitors to an annual three days festival.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man said the festival will be held at Kampung Oran, Mata Ayer between February 28 and March 1.

Azlan said they are targetting more than 100,000 visitors to join the festival despite the Coronavirus Outbreak.

" As for today, we did not receive any cases regarding Coronavirus here in Perlis and we have taken all the steps to ensure the safety of the tourist. We have screened in three locations such as in Kuala Perlis, Padang Besar and Wang Kelian",” he said in a press conference to announce details of the festival at his office today.

Present was National Department for Culture and Arts director-general Tan Sri Norliza Rofli.

The national government and the State State Ministry for Culture and the Arts are co-organizing the festival with the cooperation of other government agencies, the private sector, and NGOs.

Azlan said the highlight for this year will be the colourfull glow kites show at night.

He also advises the public to bring their own mask and hand sanitizer to be safe at all times.

The East Wind Festival is organized to mark the annual transition from the cool weather to the dry, windy weather which coincides with the paddy harvesting season.
