Dubai:

Dubai International Airport (DXB), the world’s busiest international airport for the 11th consecutive year, has launched a groundbreaking artificial intelligence-powered immigration corridor that allows passengers to clear immigration without presenting their passports.

Unveiled by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), the system marks a global first in airport technology and reflects Dubai’s ambition to redefine the future of travel through seamless, document-free processing.

The new corridor—dubbed the “red carpet”—enables up to 10 travellers to pass through simultaneously, doubling processing capacity compared to traditional one-passenger-at-a-time clearance. Using advanced AI, the system identifies and verifies travellers automatically, eliminating the need to stop at passport control.

Despite the speed and convenience, security remains uncompromised. Built-in protocols flag any suspicious or irregular travel documents, which are then redirected to forgery experts for further checks. This automation not only reduces congestion during peak hours but also significantly cuts manual workloads.

Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA, said the innovation is part of Dubai’s long-term “travel without borders” strategy to enhance efficiency, security, and passenger experience.

“DXB is more than just a transit point; it is a global gateway that reflects the UAE’s progressive identity and hospitality. The launch of this AI-powered corridor reinforces Dubai’s role as a hub of innovation and operational excellence,” he said.

The AI corridor is expected to set a new benchmark for global air travel, with Dubai leading the transformation toward automated, borderless journeys.
