MUMBAI:

The State Cabinet approved an adventure tourism policy emphasizing tourism safety. The guideline covers 25 sports including trekking, rappelling, ziplining, biking, rock climbing, scuba, rafting, snorkeling, jet-skiing, paragliding, and balloon safari.

"An accident occurred in many places in the State in the absence of the regulation. We have now introduced a policy to make adventure tourism safe and enjoyable. This policy hopefully increases the level of adventure tourism in the state" said Aaditya Thackeray, State Tourism Tourism.

The plan outlines a regulatory framework for the area with guidelines, the need for skilled personnel, and equipment with others, according to officials from the Department of Tourism.

The adventure tour operators are registered in advance followed by a permanent registration.

At the state and regional level, three committees will effectively monitor and implement the policy, an official said.

However, the policy does not apply to adventure activities undertaken as part of competitions, expeditions, and in jungle and wildlife areas.
