Batik Air to reintroduce service connecting Penang to Guilin, China

Batik Air is thrilled to announce the resumption of its flight services from Penang direct to Guilin, China starting from September 17, 2023.

This marks an exciting milestone for the airline and opens up new opportunities for travellers seeking convenient and affordable flights between these two picturesque destinations.

Batik Air will operate two weekly flights on this route, departing from Penang International Airport (PEN) to Guilin Liangjiang International Airport (KWL). The flights are scheduled to operate every Sunday and Thursday and will be utilising its modern and comfortable B737-8 fleet.

Group Strategy Director of Batik Air and Lion Group, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said this strategic move aims to meet the growing demand for travel between these two captivating destinations.

"This route promises to be a major attraction for tourists and business travellers alike, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural experiences," he said.

The Penang State Exco for Tourism and Creativity Economy, YB Wong Hon Wai said that China is has always been one of Penang's top three arrival countries.

"With this new direct flight route, it would definitely enhance the connectivity between these two destinations while providing convenience for China tourists. Ultimately, it will increase the number of arriving guests from China particularly when this inaugural flight is just in time to support the upcoming Golden Week in China where influx of Chinese tourists to Penang is highly anticipated."

Guilin, often referred to as the "Jewel of China," boasts breathtaking natural scenery, including picturesque limestone karst formations, beautiful caves and the serene Li River, that have made it a popular destination for travellers seeking tranquillity and adventure alike.

Penang, often dubbed the "Pearl of the Orient," is renowned for its diverse culture, mouthwatering cuisine, and stunning architecture. Visitors can indulge in local delicacies, soak in the rich history of George Town's UNESCO World Heritage Site, or simply relax on the beautiful beaches that the island has to offer. With this flight route, tourists from Guilin can now easily explore the tropical paradise of Penang.

To celebrate the re-launching of this route, Batik Air is offering lead-in fares starting at RM 1,029, all-inclusive one-way fare. These fares provide travellers with an affordable opportunity to experience the unique charms of both of Guilin.

The event will be graced by esteemed guests, including YB Wong Hon Wai, Penang State EXCO for Tourism & Creative Economy, and Mr. Zhou Youbin, the China Consul General.
