PADANG BESAR :

Schemes of the Federal Land Development Authority ( Felda) could be developed as tourist attractions.

Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said that Felda should recognize its strength as a special community group.

"They (Felda settlers) should demonstrate their ability, such as food in production", she told reporters after a visit to the Diamond Msha homestay in Felda Mata Ayer.

Before that, Nancy visited nine other tourist attractions in Perlis, including attractions such as Gua Kelam, the Kota Kayang Museum, Taman Rimba Herba, and Warung Tepi Sawah, along with Deputy Minister Datuk Dr. Jeffrey G. Kitingan.

Nancy said that without the participation of the community itself, the tourism industry would not be able to function smoothly.

"There is a special attraction in the Felda Community, they (tourists) can see how through Felda schemes we unite the people," she said.

It also bears witness to the government's success in Felda 's development and its ability to produce its own products, said Nancy.
