SEOUL:

The Seoul Tourism Organization (CEO/President KIL Ki-Yon) has confirmed that it will attend IMEX, the world's largest MICE event, which will take place in Frankfurt, Germany, from May 29 to June 2. STO wants to come out strong with preemptive marketing operations to attract international MICE delegates to IMEX Frankfurt 2022, in accordance with the full-scale resumption of international tourism and MICE.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of IMEX, an event dedicated to the MICE industry that attracts 14,000 people from 170 countries and over 70,000 business meetings. Expectations are high for this year, as researchers compare how different or similar international events that have been cancelled for the past two years due to the pandemic will be this year to previous years.

The Seoul Tourism Organization planned coordinated marketing initiatives with the Seoul MICE Alliance members, including group presentation sessions, to attract more potential MICE event attendees to Seoul. Buyers can schedule a PSA meeting with eight SMA members in advance on the official website, including Channel K, Euros Tech, People & Value, Grand Hyatt Seoul, Lotte Hotels Seoul, Sofitel Ambassador Seoul, VIAGEM, and Communistar.

STO also planned exciting and engaging events based on globally popular K-contents, including a drama series like Squid Game, to draw MICE organizers' attention: Dalgona carving, chimaek (chicken + beer) networking, writing Korean names on traditional Korean fans and taking selfies with Hallyu culture's global leaders

PARK Jin hyeok, director of the Seoul Convention Bureau said, "We expect our participation in this year's IMEX exhibition will be a meaningful rebooting of Seoul's standing as a complete MICE venue. With experienced and knowledgeable Seoul MICE Alliance members, we will continue our overseas marketing to enhance its position as the best MICE city in the world."
