Thailand redesigns Muslim-friendly travel application for Middle East visitors

The Thai Tourist Authority (TAT) announced a new transformation of its Thailand Muslim Friendly App which provides Muslim guests from the region with easy access throughout Thailand, as it is preparing to welcome visitors back this winter.

This app now expands the range by introducing 110 new restaurants, 70 new Mosques, 75 new hotels, 10 healthcare facilities, 19 educational centres, 20 shopping places, 17 new tourist destinations, and five additional video clips with a redesigned interface to improve user experience. 

The app is an online, offline guidebook, available for iOS and Android, which can enable Muslim travellers to find cultural venues and facilities for Muslim Middle East travellers.

“In 2019, Thailand welcomed over 550,000 visitors from the Middle East and we are excited to introduce a modern version of the Thailand Muslim Friendly App. As we prepare to reopen our borders for tourism, we want to ensure that our Muslim visitors from the Middle East are able to enjoy a vibrant stay in Thailand in accordance with their faith as we continue to develop halal tourism," said Director of TAT for Dubai and the Middle East,Pichaya Saisaengchan.

Started in June 2015, the application for a Thailand Travel Mart (TTM) is part of the strategy for making Thailand a Muslim-friendly destination. It has a lot of information knowledge on where halal restaurants, mosques, and other facilities and services can be found in order to satisfy Muslim travellers' cultural and religious needs in Thailand.
