KOTA KINABALU :

Domestic tourism will be important in improving the travel industry of Sabah, as the government has temporarily banned South Korean visitors from South Korea following the increasing number of Covid-19 incidents.

Given the viral threat in South Korea whose people make up the second-largest tourist arrivals in Sabah, the State government's ban on March 1, is appropriate, says Datuk Seri Winston, president of the Sabah Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Satta).

He said that it was important because Sabah had not enough medical facilities to deal with any major outbreak of the illness" we support the movement of the State Government", he said.

He said that people in the state travel normally under the current conditions, which is a good prospect of domestic tourism.

“They are also getting good discounts.

"At least, there are people who feel comfortable and spend money, this may not have happened if we have cases Sabah," he said.

Liaw said the special discounts and tour packages will promote domestic tourism and while waiting for the reduction of Covid-19.

All foreigners who have visited South Korea in the past 14 days are barred from entry into Sabah with effect from 1st March.

The temporary interdiction also includes all travelers from South Korea or those who are transitting from South Korea.
