The iconic Penang Hill Festival (PHF2025) returns this weekend for its sixth edition, promising an enriching blend of biodiversity, cultural heritage, and musical celebration from 18 to 20 July.

Organised by the Penang Hill Corporation (PHC), the three-day festival is expected to draw over 25,000 visitors with a vibrant programme designed for students, families, and nature lovers. “The crowd will be spread out over three days of activities that focus on creating awareness and education on the biosphere reserve, Penang Hill’s cultural heritage, and will culminate with Music on The Hill at the Bellevue Hotel,” said PHC general manager Datuk Cheok Lay Leng.

Beyond Penang Hill’s lush rainforests, the festival will shine a light on its rich cultural tapestry, which includes a Hindu temple, mosque, and Chinese temple. Highlights include guided nature walks along the Viaduct and Moniot Trails, night explorations, and the Crag Heritage Trail – which features The Crag, a historical building that once served as a sanitarium and later a boarding school, also famously featured in Indochine (1992) and Indian Summers (2014).

Interactive sessions include workshops on bird photography, mushroom exploration, batik painting, and macro photography, alongside talks on rainforest wellness, hiking, and conservation.

In partnership with Tourism Malaysia Northern Region and ATEC College, PHC has also launched a limited-edition postcard giveaway. Festivalgoers who share photos or videos on social media with the hashtags #phf2025, #penanghillfestival, and #atecpenang stand a chance to redeem a free set of postcards, available at the PHF2025 Information Counter.

Several activities require pre-registration due to limited slots. Some events are free, while others include a nominal participation fee.
