JOHOR:

In order to boost the sector badly affected by the Covid 19 pandemic, the government is disbursing RM1.5 million in the form of tourism vouchers.

Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, chairman of the committee on tourism, youth, and sports, said that the initiative should be implemented until after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The vouchers are meant to spur the state tourism industry such as theme parks, homestays, and hotels.

“Tourism Johor is studying the convenience and effectiveness of providing travel vouchers to tourists, ” he said.

He added that the vouchers were included in three one-off tourist incentives, as announced in the 2021 state budget.

The state government will soon be transmitting RM1000 to about 1000 guides in Johor Onn Hafiz said.

“The second initiative is to channel RM10,000 to about 2,000 tourism associations and tour companies, ” he elaborated.

He hopes that the funding will enable recipients to work together to promote Johor tourism products.
